HUBUNGAN INTENSITAS NYERI PADA IBU POST SECTIO CAESAREA TERHADAP DURASI DAN FREKUENSI MENYUSUI LANGSUNG
Abstract
ABSTRACT
The clinical phenomenon shows that postoperative pain often hinders the success of direct breastfeeding. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the level of pain intensity experienced by mothers after undergoing a caesarean section and the duration and frequency of direct breastfeeding.
This research is a quantitative correlational study using an analytical observational approach with a cross-sectional design. The study population consisted of mothers on the first day after caesarean section. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, with a total of 54 respondents. Data collection instruments included a data collection sheet and a questionnaire to assess breastfeeding duration and frequency, as well as the Wong-Baker FACES Pain Rating Scale to measure pain intensity. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank correlation test.
The results showed a significant relationship with a p-value < 0.05 and correlation coefficients (r) of -0.465 for breastfeeding duration and -0.421 for breastfeeding frequency. These results indicate that the higher the pain intensity experienced by the mother, the shorter the duration and the less frequent the direct breastfeeding sessions, with a moderate negative correlation. It can be concluded that postoperative pain management following a cesarean section plays a crucial role in supporting optimal direct breastfeeding practices. Health workers are expected to provide appropriate education and support to accelerate recovery and improve lactation outcomes
